Classes

The Backyard Beekeepers Association offers Beginning Beekeeper and Apprentice Beekeeper classes. These classes are approved by WASBA for beekeeper certification.

Please note – We currently have no further classes scheduled for 2025, but likely will be adding some at a later date. Please join us in our monthly meetings!

Beginner Beekeeper Class

The Beginning Beekeeper Classes are for those who have little to no experience with keeping honey bees.

Field Day

We offer these classes in a two-day classroom experience located in Deer Park, WA.  Students can attend optional “hands-on” field days through the season, at a local bee yard.

The goal of the Beginning Beekeeper Class is to provide our students with the most relevant and detailed education in order to promote the highest success rate while they begin tending their bees.  Our education, married with “hands-on” field days, will equip our students with the best practices needed to become confident, successful beekeepers.

We hope you will join us as we learn more about honey bees and the art of beekeeping!

Apprentice Beekeeper Class (for experienced beekeepers)

In order to sign up for this class, you must be Beginning Beekeeper certified, and have kept bees for at least one year.

We offer these classes in a two-day classroom experience located in Deer Park, WA.  Students can attend optional “hands-on” field days through the season, at a local bee yard.

The Apprentice Beekeeper class is for people who have experience keeping bees for at least a year and would like to continue a more in-depth education.

We hope you will join us as we learn more about honey bees and the art of beekeeping!
