Classes

The Backyard Beekeepers Association offers Beginning Beekeeper and Apprentice Beekeeper classes. These classes are approved by WASBA for beekeeper certification.

Also, please join us in our monthly meetings!

Beginner Beekeeper Class

This course is for the person who is thinking about getting started in keeping honey bees as a hobby. It offers the opportunity to decide if beekeeping is something that a person wants to do and provides basic information on how to maintain a colony successfully the first year.

Field Day

The goal of the Beginning Beekeeper Class is to provide our students with the most relevant training in order to promote the highest success rate in the first year of keeping bees in the local area.

We offer these classes in a two-day classroom experience located in Deer Park, WA.  Students can attend optional “hands-on” field days through the season, at a local bee yard.

** PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATES ** This 2-day class will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park, on March 21 and 28, 2026.

We hope you will join us as we learn more about honey bees and the art of beekeeping!

See our cancellation policy in Terms and Conditions.

This class fills up every year, so please do not delay registering! Because we will need to order class materials 2 weeks in advance, registrations will be closed on March 7, 2026.
